What does the RBL do?
The Royal British Legion (RBL), formerly the British Legion, is a British charity providing financial, social and emotional support to members and veterans of the British Armed Forces, their families and dependants, and al others in need.
What does the Poppy Appeal money go to?
Where does the money go? We use the money raised to provide support to the Armed Forces community in six key areas: Financial Support, Advice, Employment, Mobility, Housing and Mental Health. You can find out more about each of these areas here.

Are kids allowed in British legion?
Become a youth member. Youth membership is free for anyone aged 12-18 years old. To join a completed paper application is required with consent from a parent or guardian. Please contact your local branch to find out more.
Whats the difference between the RBL and RBLI?

RBLI has a distinct and consistent focus on service delivery, particularly in providing employment, care and housing to the Armed Forces Community.
Who owns Royal British Legion?
The Royal British Legion is honoured to have Her Majesty the Queen as our Patron. While having royal patronage from its founding in 1921, the Legion received its “Royal” appellation in 1971 on its golden anniversary. Our National President is Lt General James Bashall CB, CBE appointed in May 2019.
