Will UIC be in-person in the fall?
We plan to offer a large number of on-campus, in-person classes with the expectation that a significant number of individuals in our community will be vaccinated before the fall semester begins.
Is UIC going back in the fall?
UIC plans to be fully open in Fall 2021, with students returning to in-person classes.

The University of Illinois Chicago continues to be one of the nation’s top public universities, according to the 2022 edition of the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Rankings. UIC ranked 25th among 341 U.S. public universities — and was placed ahead of six Big Ten universities.
Is UIC going to be online in the fall?
Undergraduate classes with 100 or more students will be delivered remotely, either synchronously or asynchronously, as determined by the professor in charge of the class. We will be placing tents on the East and West campuses as alternative spaces for students to take classes remotely and study.
Is UIC in person next semester?
In-person classes are expected to resume Monday, Jan. Social distancing in the classroom will not be necessary because face masks, which will remain required indoors on campus, and vaccines (96% of the UIC community is vaccinated) continue to be the best forms of defense against COVID-19 transmission.
Does UIC have early decision?
UIC does not offer early decisions or a priority decision date for transfer applicants.
Is UIC virtual?
UIC can legally offer online programs in 49 states plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico (California is excluded).
